A new Framework Agreement for Social Dialogue between the EUI, Trade Unions, and Professional Associations

On 10 April 2025, the EUI Employees Union, US IUE Florence, and the European University Institute marked an important milestone with the signing of a new Framework Agreement during a brief ceremony at the President’s office. This agreement represents a significant recognition of the Union’s role within the EUI community and paves the way for strengthened collaboration with the elected members of the new Union Board.

The adoption of the Framework Agreement has been a key priority for the Union since the beginning of its mandate in 2022, and it has featured consistently in its annual programme. The final version of the Agreement, submitted to the EUI authorities in October 2024, is the result of dedicated negotiations that began in January 2025 and concluded successfully on 7 April.

The new agreement reaffirms the shared commitment of the EUI and the Union to cultivating a modern, inclusive, and efficient workplace. By formalising the Union’s role and reinforcing democratic principles in institutional life, it ensures that social dialogue, mutual respect, and collective progress remain at the heart of the EUI’s future development.

It replaces the Framework Agreement Consultation Tool for the EUI and the Italian Federation of Trade Unions (UIL) of 18 March 1992.
