Union Request for Transparency and Fairness in EUI Internal vs. External Vacancies
Following the announcement of the latest external vacancy for the Director of the Communication Service and the internal vacancy for the Director of the Development and External Relations Service, the EUI Employees Union has received numerous protest emails from its members. The members expressed concerns about the perceived lack of transparency and fairness in the use of internal versus external vacancies. In response, the Union sent on 28 August a letter to President Nanz, voicing these concerns and advocating for the consistent application of the principles of honesty and transparency across all EUI activities, including governance changes and recruitment processes.
The Union emphasized the importance of paying greater attention to gender balance in management positions and called for improved integration between administrative and academic staff in decision-making processes. The Union also stressed the need for decisions concerning staff, working conditions, and organizational matters to be communicated widely, made accessible, and easy to retrieve. Additionally, the Union urged HR and Central Management to consider launching high-grade managerial roles, such as the recent AD Director of Service position, as external vacancies to ensure a fair and open selection process.
